Luca’s Pizzeria and Italian Kitchen will open in Greenwich on Friday, April 12, in the Glenville Shopping Center.
Luca’s is named after owner Joe Criscuolo’s father, who founded Pizza Post in Greenwich in 1972. Criscuolo was brought up spinning pizza dough and making fine Italian food at pizzerias in Fairfield County. He has helped run Pizza Post alongside his brother Matt for many years.
He attended the Culinary Institute of America and worked with Lidia Bastianich, an Emmy-award-winning television host, best-selling cookbook author, and restaurateur.
Luca’s menu will feature a variety of pizzas, pasta, sandwiches, salads, sides, and Italian specialties.
There will be several signature items, like garlic monkey bread and Joe’s Sunday Sauce; inspired by his childhood, Criscuolo has created a version of his moms’s signature sauce that she would make every week. Luca’s will also offer a menu of specials that will change weekly.
“I’m excited to pay homage to my dad with the debut of Luca’s,” said Criscuolo. “The menu was inspired by my journey and incorporates ideas from family recipes and visits to the Amalfi Coast. Since my father first taught me how to knead dough, it’s always been my dream to start my own pizzeria, and I can’t wait to share some delicious food with the Greenwich community.”
Luca’s will open at 11 a.m. on Friday. The first 50 customers will receive a complimentary order of garlic monkey bread with any purchase. A portion of opening day proceeds will go to Abilis, a Greenwich-based nonprofit organization that supports more than 800 individuals with special needs.
Luca’s will be open for lunch and dinner Tuesday through Sunday and will expand its hours in the months ahead. Guests can grab a bite at the pizzeria or order for pickup and delivery. Catering is also available.
Luca’s is located at 21 Glenville St.
